Rezaei presents the viewer with Sefid-ab or white water in a vintage brass bowl placed high upon a pedestal. This ancient Iranian cosmetic and cleanser is used to exfoliate, rejuvenate and whiten the skin. As a material it is soft and has a luxurious feel to it however, all is not as it may at first seem.
Rezaei has inserted sharp round headed tailors pins into each of the small tablets of Sefdi-abb. The sharp points punctuate the tablets, completely changing the overall impression of the physical substance. However, fundamentally the Sefid-ab in itself has not changed, it is still recognisable as its original form. Rezaei has manipulated the materials and changed the application of the product but she has not removed its original identity.
