Which god are we looking at? Maróti has left the title of this portrait vague, simply 'God'. One is inclined to think it is the monotheistic of Christianity. This figure, against a bright blue background, exudes power and gravity. The thick dark red and black paint used for his face gives a slightly sinister edge, however there is something inviting and appealing about the overall image.
The bold yellow outline in the lower left section of the painting could be suggestive on an arm or merely the whim of the artist. As.a compositional element it guides our eye around the torso of this figure and also holds our interest for a few seconds. This apparently simple and spontaneous gesture is far more studied and deliberate, it completes the whole.
